Hi from Snowy Seattle!

I am lucky, lucky I came in yesterday as Alaska has canceled all flights in and out of Seattle today (and tomorrow?). We're supposed to get 6-9 inches of snow and wind up to 75mph. Hopefully the last will fail to materialize. But since the snow started on the dot at three the rest of the prediction might be equally accurate.

12.18.2008, Day 76. Sunrise at DIA. The last time I caught a sunrise at DIA was roughly a year ago, fortunately this one wasn't seen after spending the night at the airport.

From Project365
12.20.2008, Day 77. Lilycat says "look either pet me or don't. But stop taking your hand away to take pictures!" The snow in the background was all from the day before yesterday.

Some bonus pictures.

I suppose there are some good things about a 730 am final

Like being home and completely done with the semester by a quarter to twelve.

From Project365
12.16.08 Day 73, start of a knee sock.

From Project365
12.17.08, Day 74. Ice on Boulder Creek. The REAL picture for the day is one I planned and forgot to take, called "portrait of the photography via phd applications." It was going to be all the envelops I mailed off with writing samples etc. but like I said I forgot to take the picture.

From Project365
12.18.08, Day 75. Another good thing about 730am finals, early light on the Flatirons.

Bonus picture

From Project 365 extras

12.18.08, Day 75. This squirrel was utterly intent on eating. I walked by it, about two feet away, turned back, took out my camera and took the picture and it just looked at me sidelong and kept eating.

In other good news the heater in my room is finally fixed! No more waking up in the middle of the night to turn it on/off, the auto function works again, hurrah!

Funny things found on the internet

I have spent all day working on applications. Grrr. Submitted two three some of them. Have to finish the rest. Picture updates will come another day because I don't feel like uploading them from my camera at the moment. Also why am I convinced it is Wednesday? Really quite glad it's not Wednesday. Two funny things found on the internet via Miss Conduct: A Facebook version of Pride and Prejudice, and a Facebook version of Hamlet. Don't worry they are not actually on Facebook so anyone can see them.

The other necklace

From Project365
12.15.08, Day 72. Warmer than yesterday but still pretty damn cold. This is the other necklace I made on Sunday. Same design different materials.

From Project365
12.13.08, Day 70. I did mention I like rusted things, right?

From Project365
12.14.08, Day 71. Yesterday I went into a bead store searching for something very specific, which they didn't have. I ended up buy silver and copper wire and stone beads and then spent a couple hours making two necklaces. I decided that this one, the first I made, would be the picture for today. And then it snowed last night. And this morning I got the brilliant idea to go out and take a picture of me in the snow in the necklace, at an actually temperature of 3F and a perceived temp of -13F. I like the picture enough that if the snow sticks around I'll take a picture of me in the other necklace tomorrow.

*.*

I was hoping to get this paper done by midnight . . . I still have 8 pages to go ;.;EDIT: 2:32am, paper still not done, now only need four pages, and a lot of analysis (more than four pages of it).Words I have never used in a paper before: appellation, elucidate, flabbergasted.EDIT: 3:43 pm. I finished my paper at 11:30 this morning and got in on time by noon! Yay!I imagine several of you are like, wait haven't you know what you were going to write about since the third week of the semester? Unfortunately my idea of writing a structural analysis of Murakami Haruki's short stories fell apart at the 11th hour, aka 30 minutes before class on Wednesday. Mainly because I still couldn't figure out why a structural analysis would be useful/important. So instead I did a structural analysis of the BL genre. 20 pages in 24 hours, and it is faaaar better than my original idea would have been. However I only got three hours of sleep last night 4-7 so my main goal for the rest of the day is to stay awake until nine. But the paper is done. And today was the last day of classes so aside from my students final next Thursday, all bright and shiny at the way-too-early time of 7:30am I AM DONE!!!!! YAY SLEEP AND A VACATION!!!There will now commence a break in blogging activities as I go consume the rest of my pizza and upload photos. BRB.
